Will Lana Del Rey sing the next bond song? The evidence certainly says so. The filmmakers of the James Bond series have a tendency to turn to the current flavor of the month for their lead song and acts don’t come much hotter than Lana Del Rey right now. The American songstress with the dreamy vocals and enormous pout burst onto the music scene with Video Games in late 2011 and has been the talk of the industry ever since. A throwback to the torch singers of the 1960s, Del Rey’s brand of sexy melancholy is seemingly tailor made for Bond.

Lana’s becoming more and more successful by the minute, her album (ultraviolence) is the best selling album by a female artist of the year so far and “an early contender for album of the year,” her previous album (Born to Die) is the fourth best selling major label debut album by a female in a decade in the US. Ms. Del Rey is no stranger to singing theme songs, she sang songs for both The Great Gatsby and Maleficent so let’s just say Lana “gets theme songs.”
Rumor has it she might be singing the theme song for Mockingjay part 1 (alongside Lorde) and Lana recently said the following about film offers “I have received some interesting suggestions and I’m really tempted to say yes!” Who knows maybe the director for “Bond 24,” saw Lana’s shades of cool video and already decided to ask her. After all a critic said “Miss Del Rey can rest assured she has the gig to the next song if she chooses so.” He won’t be the only one thinking that; Stereo gum, Slate, Digital Spy, Style caster, Neprospects and Lana herself all think that Shades of Cool is very “Bond-esque.” Soon after its release it was dubbed as “the next bond song never.”She has many songs like put me in a movie(and don’t forget she’s dating film star James Franco).
Still don’t believe Lana should sing the next Bond song go watch her Shades of Cool music video. Speaking of which, “Lana is the kind of person who can sing for and act in a James Bond movie,” and you can’t disagree with that. I mean come on she’s a singer and a has a model contract- the perfect Bond girl. I know I’m not the only one obsessed about how Lana HAS to sing the next Bond song, Huffington Post, IGN, Letter boxd and the MI6 community all feel the same. Rest assured the MI6 community are Bond experts and know a Bond girl when they see her.
Like I mentioned earlier the filmmakers always pick the hottest singer and by the time of the release of the next Bond film Lana will have won many more awards, sung many more theme songs maybe even acted in a bunch of movies but most importantly will have released an “addition” to ultra violence which is rumored to be called Music to Watch Boys To (can’t wait to see how that turns out). Furthermore, she loves books, hence the Lolita and Clockwork Orange inspired songs.

Even her favorite movie (the Godfather) is based on the bestselling novel of the same name and I’m sure she would love to be part of a franchise based on the bestselling series by Ian Fleming. Besides, anything Nancy Sinatra has done Lana Del Rey can do too. She doesn’t call herself a “Gangsta Nancy Sinatra,” for nothing. Basically the next Bond theme will be a beautiful throwback with lots of references to the franchise history and it will be the completion of her trifecta.
