Brie Larson Shares DJ Past To Inspire Struggling Artists

Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson once worked as a DJ to support herself.

Brie Larson 27-year-old has an enviable film career now but she once struggled to pay the bills while auditioning for work. Larson took to Instagram on Friday (31Mar17) to share a photo from her days as a record spinner.

“I used to DJ. It was the ‘real’ job that floated me while I auditioned for the movies I never got,” she captioned the pic.

In the post, Larson admitted that even while shooting the critically acclaimed 2013 drama Short Term 12. She was barely able to support herself.

“I spun records at magazine parties and hotel bars on weekends because I couldn’t survive off of SAG (Screen Actors Guild) minimum (wage),” she revealed.

The Kong: Skull Island star also shared words of inspiration for artists working side jobs while they pursue their dreams:

“I’m grateful for where I am now, but want to give a toast to the life I lived before”

She wrote:

“To all the dreamers with day jobs, I see you, don’t give up. There is beauty in your journey.”
