Amanda Wakeley tapped into a dancer’s grace with this collection, which was filled with fluid pieces designed for a creative woman. “I’ve always been fascinated by the passion, intensity and beauty of a dancer,” said Wakeley during a walk-through of her collection, which she held as a static presentation at her Albemarle Street store.

“But then thinking, where does she go after her relatively short career? She is a creative, and she wants to express herself.” So these clothes skillfully fused an active sensibility with luxurious fabrics, as Wakeley imagined her muse segueing from dance class to an artist’s studio.

And a shirtdress, its skirts done in painterly blue stripes that were inspired by the work of the late artist Helen Frankenthaler, was knotted over an easy pair of embellished denim pants.
