Carven Collection for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2016

Adrien Caillaudaud and Alexis Martial dove into their second runway show for Carven by working a nautical theme. The visual narrative followed a young woman as she set off from the city and jumped on a boat to explore – above water and then under it as her outfits progressed from crisp striped shirts through zippered scuba-style tops to intarsia sweaters in swirling bubble prints.

The duo stuck to the high-waist fit they established for fall, with miniskirts and lean pants forging a streamlined look that brought to mind Kiraz cartoons of Parisian women. There was a Sixties vibe to a navy A-line skirt with circular cutouts at the hem, echoed in the eyelet details on a matching navy-and-white top.

The display deftly navigated between masculine and feminine, with shirts and tops in patchworks of white cotton, striped poplin and spongy knits providing a trim counterpoint to more frivolous fare, including a white halter dress covered with undulating frills.
