Spring/Summer Collection 2012 by John Rocha

John Rocha’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was weirdly wonderful. There is a spark of creativity based on mythical warriors. The colors used showed no variation, they were mostly black, white or nude colors. His collection seemed to be a fantasy world.

John Rocha’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was highly inspired by the mythical warriors that took the audience to a fantasy world. His collection included a wide range of lampshade dresses, sheer ruffled skirts, shimmering crochet bodices and loose-fit silk jumpsuits. John did not play much with the colors which was something off the hook as the collection was for Spring/Summer 2012. The colors he has used are mostly black, white or other nude shades.

"It was masterful craftsmanship – the intricacies of all the fabrics used, there were so many varied ones. It appeared to be very theatrical, but actually was quite wearable with the trousers and separates," said Vogue’s Calgary Avansino.

The ornate headpieces gained a lot of attention. They went perfectly with the ruffled dresses with feathers embedded. The headpieces were wired and feathers were attached to it and they explained that the ideas have been derived from the mythical warriors. The headpieces simply added to the idea of the entire collection the girls looked like woodland creatures with their hair in loose dirt plaits. The entire collection was speaking out loud about the inspiration behind it. The fabric used in the collection was mixed and it was strong.

Rocha also added comply wedge shoe range. The shoes had the same mixture of rusty leave and feather mix which was also used in the dresses and the headpieces. It gained a lot of attention and appreciation. The shoes were either black or honey gold. Clearly Rocha did not play with colors and kept his mythical warriors inspiration aligned.

The tailoring in Rocha’s collection spring/summer 2012 was again off the hook. The dressed were double capped with long pleats hanging from the dresses which were flowing as walked. These pleats also gave an idea of the warrior inspiration. Soft tailoring is what made the collection fit with the idea behind it. Oversized dresses are observed which gives a hint that oversized fashion is coming up.
