Robb & Lulu Miami Swim Week Spring 2016 Resort Collection
Married couples share all kinds of destinies but it seems clear that husband-and-wife team Robert and Lulu Zagame (appropriately, of Robb & Lulu) seem meant to create a swimwear line. He’s the textile expert; she’s the illustator and designers. Together, the Australian pair have crafted a brand with a carefree, artistic attitude that’s immediately evident in their work. Looking for a bikini that reflects a uniquely Aussie love for good times at the beach? Robb & Lulu have you covered.
What’s interesting, then, is how that vision shifts and evolves over time and this season’s collection reflected a newfound sense of sophistication. Appropriately, it read as a mature collection no matter how whimsical and design and color palette, there was no mistaking this as the work of anything but a veteran team. (This year is their fifth in business.)
The theme hewed close to past interests, with their stated source of inspiration: art and self-expression. How to convey those qualities in swimwear? With an assortment of one-pieces, bikinis, cover-ups and accessories showing off abundant pops of color purple, lemon-yellow, turquoise, melon as well as a touch of subtle sophistication. All the fabrics, for example, were imported from Italy.
