Sarah Ferguson Has Been Spending Christmas Alone For 20 Years Like Diana

Sarah Ferguson has been spending Christmas alone like Princess Diana did.

The members of the royal family usually reunite over holidays. However, spending Christmas with the members of the Firm can be tricky, especially after divorce. According to Ferguson’s PR spokesperson she has been spending Christmas alone in the last two decades after her split from Prince Andrew.

“The duchess will be spending Christmas on her own as she has for the last twenty years,” the spokesperson told Express.

Last year, Ferguson shared that she planned to watch and enjoy the 1959 drama film “Ben-Hur.” She added that she would also watch the news to see how her daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were doing.

The Duke and Duchess of York’s children are very close to Queen Elizabeth II. Ferguson is aware of it and even said that Her Majesty adores her daughters. So, she has no issues having them spend the holidays with their royal grandmother.

On Christmas Day, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were spotted joining Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton for their traditional morning church service. They also participated in the Christmas walkabout.

For the first time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also brought their two elder kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Queen Elizabeth II also broke the royal protocol by allowing Princess Beatrice to have her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi join them for the celebration.

The way Ferguson spends Christmas is similar to how Princess Diana did it when she was still alive. Following her separation from Prince Charles, she no longer joined them in Sandringham. The Prince of Wales took their sons Prince William and Prince Harry to Sandringham for the holidays leaving Princess Diana alone for the celebration.

“William and Harry would go off to Sandringham and Princess Diana was there on her own. And she insisted the staff spending their time with their families over Christmas, so we would leave food in the refrigerator. So there was the princess, on her own, on Christmas Day,” former royal chef Darren McGrady shared on Yahoo’s “The Royal Story.”
