David Jones, who is writing a biography on the Duchess of Sussex, told Daily Mail that he saw the royal couple’s decision to step back coming even before they made the announcement.
After all, Jones thinks that with the Duchess of Sussex, it’s always her way or the highway. The author also described Markle as someone who is headstrong, and she’s also the one who rules over Prince Harry.
“She’s always the center of the relationship, regardless of Harry’s title. She wants to be in the limelight, but under her own terms,” he said.
The author also said that the former actress still lives by the mantra that was originally given to her by her ex-husband, Trevor Engelson. “Never give it five minutes if you’re not prepared to give it five years,” he said.
Jones also revealed that some of the royal couple’s friends could help but think that Markle is the instigator of the shocking decision. After all, the “Suits” alum is known for fleeing when things get hard.
A similar thing happened while Markle was still married to her ex-husband. According to royal expert Andrew Morton, the Duchess of Sussex suddenly ended their nine-year relationship after she rose to fame and was cast on “Suits.”
In the documentary “Meghan Markle: Movies, Marriage & Motherhood,” royal correspondent Ashley Pierson said that the former couple’s relationship just didn’t last.
With Prince Harry, Markle didn’t break up her marriage to the senior royal, but she seemingly made sure that they could live in their own little world without any influence from her husband’s family.
However, there are also some rumors suggesting that Markle and Prince Harry’s marriage won’t last very long. In an article she penned for The Daily Telegraph, royal commentator Angela Mollard said that it’s not unlikely for the royal couple’s marriage to end because 42 percent of marriages in the United Kingdom end in divorce.
