PRINCE HARRY and Meghan Markle could be having a virtual celebration for Archie’s first birthday with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children.
A royal insider has said the Sussexes will be talking to Prince William and Kate for the first time in months. The birthday of Archie, the seventh in line to the throne, could see the two families getting back in contact again.
There is believed to have been a degree of animosity between the two royal brothers when Harry announced he would be standing down as a senior royal in January.
Speaking to OK! Magazine Katie Nicholl said: “The Queen will wish him happy birthday this week via Zoom as will the Cambridge children.
“They haven’t seen their little cousin in months so they’ve been looking forward to seeing how much he’s grown.”
Royal correspondent Roya Nikkah tweeted: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will give the world a rare glimpse of their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor next month when they publicly mark his first birthday on May 6.”
Meghan and Harry have been living in Los Angeles and are believed to be trying to find their dream home.
The couple are likely to release a new picture of Archie to celebrate his first birthday.
The Duchess of Cambridge has shared photos of Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte in recent weeks to celebrate their birthdays.
“The hope had been that Archie’s first birthday would somehow be marked with some members of the Royal Family, cousins, grandparents and some godparents in the UK when they were over.”
Royal biographer Penny Junor said: “Now they are cut off from family it is hard for everybody. On the day they will no doubt make many calls to family.
Meghan and Harry have not shared a picture of Archie since the new year when they published a picture of Harry holding him when the family were on a walk in Canada.
Another royal source said: “It will be just the three of them. Meghan understandably refuses to take any risks with guests or travel.
“They will have a lovely cake. Maybe an avocado cake. I would think the Queen will speak to them and definitely Archie’s grandfather, Charles. But perhaps not his other grandfather Thomas Markle, which is very sad.”
Although Archie was born on May 6 2019, the first glimpse of the royal baby was at Windsor Castle two days later.
It is thought that Meghan may relaunch her lifestyle blog, The Tig, now she has stepped down as a senior royal.
