In the images, both Eugenie and Jack are both seen wearing gloves but lack face masks, which raised eyebrows amongst Instagram users. Followers asked why the Salvation Army had not provided their volunteers with proper PPE for their duties.
The royal captioned the photo: “Since 1865 the Salvation Army has been there with open doors to help so many people.
“In the past few years I have witnessed first hand their dedication and hard work, so when they invited Jack and I to their newly created hub to pack boxes, we jumped at the chance.
“As a group of volunteers, we helped pack trolleys of food that are then taken and distributed to the Army’s hugely important and much-needed food banks that feed thousands across the UK.
“Their message is key – their doors are open, always have been and always will be. @salvationarmyuk.”
It comes as the York sisters have stepped up their workload as royals following the step-down of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The kind gesture was largely praised by Instagram followers as some expressed concern for the young royal’s safety.
One wrote: “The only problem with this photo is that nobody is wearing a mask.”
Another replied: “Amazing work, but where are the masks?”
A third commented: “Please use the face mask – you will protect yourselves and others.”
The Princess is currently in lockdown at her home Royal Lodge, Windsor and has regularly volunteered during the coronavirus pandemic.
Recently alongside her mother Sarah Ferguson, Eugenie was seen dropping off sweet treats from Lambertz to London hospitals in March.
She and Jack have also delivered healthy lunches from Angie’s Little Food Shop to Imperial College, London.
Eugenie has been regularly posting updates onto social media throughout lockdown.
Including a recent unseen photo from her wedding day to celebrate her husband’s birthday on Sunday.
She shared a gallery of pictures which included a black and white cropped wedding portrait, captioned “Happy birthday my love xxx”
Princess Eugenie and Jack married back in 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, in lavish nuptials attended by models Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss.
The young royal wore a Peter Pilotto wedding gown and an emerald Greville Kokoshnik tiara on her special day.
Back in April, the couple celebrated 10 years together as Eugenie uploaded more intimate snaps of the couple.
The princess wrote that she was lucky to be at home with her husband as many couples are self-isolating away from each other.
She then encouraged frontline workers celebrating anniversary’s to message her photos of their loved ones, so she could share them on Instagram stories.
Sarah Ferguson is also meant to be self-isolating with Eugenie and Jack at Royal Lodge.
