The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s frustrated with their royal role was something that the monarch was very much aware of however was oblivious about when the bomb would really be dropped.
The Channel 5 documentary named The Queen: In Her Own Words spotlight on how the couple had been within amidst a ‘war of words’ with Her Majesty toward the start of this current year.
Andrew Scarborough described: “In 2020 she beat Harry and Meghan during a war of words and proved herself to be the Queen of social media.”
“#Megxit trend everywhere throughout the world and dragged the Queen into a Twitterstorm,” he said.
“Although the Queen had been caught off guard, a brief and concise tweet posted only hours after the fact spilled that conversations were at a beginning phase. In only 34 friendly words, the Queen had taken back responsibility for the circumstance,” he included.
Master Wesley Kerr OBE said: “It was a circumstance sort like a kettle which had been arising to boil and it boiled over. They gave that unexpected statement saying that they would be stepping back from their role as senior royals which that they had laid out what their terms would be.“
Royal editor Ingrid Seward included: “The statement came as an entire surprise to the Queen. She realized that they were not happy, she realized that they were in talks together with her advisors however she had no clue they were getting to put out their own statement.”
