The Times released an excerpt from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s book, Finding Freedom ahead of its release. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote the book.
One of the storylines debunked in the book has to do with Markle and Middleton’s relationship. The authors said that the in-laws never fought with each other. They simply didn’t know each other very well.
Meghan Markle didn’t make Kate Middleton cry
Years ago, reports claimed that Markle made Middleton cry during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting. The book authors said that this isn’t accurate.
“Some of the children weren’t cooperating, and there was a lot going on. Everyone tried to help where they could, but it’s never easy with kids at fittings. There were no tears from anyone,” they said.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle doesn’t trust anyone
Since joining the royal family in 2017, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly, adopted a “trust no one” approach. After all, they were convinced that the royal households were the ones leaking stories about them.
“There were just a handful of people working at the palace they could trust. A friend of the couple referred to the old guard as ‘the vipers.’ Meanwhile, a frustrated palace staffer described the Sussexes’ team as ‘the squeaky third wheel’ of the palace,” they said.
In the book, the authors also claimed that the relationship between the Sussexes and Cambridges deteriorated that they were barely speaking by March 2020.
However, Scobie and Durand stressed that Prince William and Prince Harry were the ones that had a falling out and not their wives.
Prince William referred to Prince Harry’s wife as ‘this girl’
The authors confirmed that the royal siblings had a conversation about Prince Harry’s plans to marry Markle. And while Prince William tried to encourage his brother to take all the time that he needs, this wasn’t what ticked him off.
“Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl,” Prince William, reportedly, told Prince Harry.
The words “this girl” were what upset the Duke of Sussex.
“Harry could see through William’s words. He was being a snob,” the authors said.
The Duke, Duchess of Sussex wanted to do more things
And it is also true that Prince William and Middleton were upset over the Sussexes’ decision to quit The Firm. But Prince Harry and Markle made it clear that their decision was based on their desire to do more.
“While they both respected the hierarchy of the institution, it was difficult when they wanted to focus on a project and were told that a more senior ranking family member, be it, Prince William or Prince Charles, had an initiative or tour being announced at the same time – so they would just have to wait,” the authors said.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are living their quiet lives in Beverly Hills after quitting the royal family in January.
