Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie divorce: What takes the process so long?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still not divorced almost four years after their split due to their custody battle and financial issues.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie parted ways in 2016. However, at present, their divorce is still on trial. Check out the reason why per Gossip Cop.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split revisited

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie separated in September 2016. The pair at the time was not amicable, and both remained coy regarding the reason for their breakup.

In an interview with GQ, the Ad Astra actor admitted about his serious drinking problem. However, Pitt did not share more details on whether his drinking problems contributed to their marital issues.

“I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good,” Pitt explained.

Jolie’s ex-husband added that he didn’t “want to live that way anymore.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2017, Jolie hinted that “things got bad” in the summer of 2016. She immediately corrected herself because she didn’t want the first word she used.

“I didn’t want to use that word… Things became difficult,” she explained.

In an interview in June, Jolie explained that they separated for the welfare of their family. She also stressed that they maintain a “healthy environment for their kids,” and it’s an ongoing process.

“I separated for the wellbeing of my family,” Jolie told Vogue. “It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing.”

Brad and Angelina’s divorce delayed

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had separated for almost four years already. However, they are still working on finalizing their divorce.

The reasons Pitt and Jolie’s divorce is still in the works are their custody battle and financial issues, Gossip Cop reported. However, the two have been officially single since 2019.

Legal case update

Angelina Jolie has requested to fire the judge overseeing their divorce case. The Maleficent star was concerned that something untoward was happening because of the judge’s business deals with Brad Pitt’s lawyers.

Jolie said Judge John W. Ouderkirk failed to disclose his financial and professional relationship with Pitt’s attorneys, Anne C. Kiley and Lance Spiegel.

However, Pitt’s camp accused Jolie of delaying their divorce process. Pitt’s lawyers responded even before judge Ouderkirk did.

It is a “thinly veiled attempt by Jolie to delay the adjudication of long-pending custody issues in this case,” they said in their document filing requesting to deny Jolie’s request.

Jolie’s camp denied the allegation and insisted that they only wanted a fair trial.
