Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress and other items from her secret ceremony will go on display at Windsor Castle later this year.
The Queen’s granddaughter married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at a small ceremony in front of a handful of their closest family and friends – including the Monarch and Prince Philip – in July.
Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne, borrowed one of the Queen’s dresses for the special day, which she teamed with a stunning diamond tiara.
The couple’s original wedding had to be scrapped due to lockdown, however they opted to have a secret ceremony behind closed doors as soon as government restrictions allowed.
Even though well-wishers weren’t able to be part of the celebrations, they will be able to see some of the key elements of the day at an exhibition at Windsor Castle later this month.
The bride’s dress, shoes and a replica of her bouquet will go on display between September 24 and November 22.
She follows in the footsteps of the Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan Markle and her sister Princess Eugenie to show off her dress at such an event.
At the previous exhibitions, the bride and groom have recorded audio clips which have given fans new details about the preparations and day itself .
Beatrice’s wedding dress is a gown the Queen has worn a number of times over the years – including the the premier of the Lawrence of Arabia film in 1962.
It is made from ivory peau de soie taffeta with a skirt trim of duchesse satin.
It was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell who was also behind the Queen’s wedding dress and the outfit for her Coronation in 1953.
The vintage dress has organza sleeves – which were added for the wedding – geometric bodice and diamanté adornments.
The Queen’s personal advisor and close friend Angela Kelly and British fashion designer Stewart Parvin made the alterations, which are all reversible .
The exhibition will also include Beatrice’s Valentino wedding shoes, which she previously wore the the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011.
Beatrice and Edo married at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park in July.
One of Beatrice’s friends told The Sun : “They were obviously very keen for the Queen to come so the wedding had to happen before she goes up to Balmoral so this was a great opportunity.
“So many guests were disappointed not to make the big day but understood the reason for it.
“They are just like a normal family and had to make sacrifices like many others have up and down the country and looking forward to having a wonderful celebration when the time is right.”
Beatrice and Edo are family friends and have known each other for years, but are said to have reunited at Eugenie’s wedding.
They had a whirlwind relationship before the millionaire property developer popped the question on holiday in Italy in May.
The wedding means Beatrice means is now stepmum to Edo’s son Christopher, who is known as Wolfie.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed the wedding took place in a statement, writing: “The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.”
