Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson opened up about their divorce and heartbreak. Stefani was divorced to ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. Meanwhile, just this year, Clarkson split from husband Brandon Blackstock and they are processing their divorce.
Kelly Clarkson is an open book when it comes to her life. However, many notice that she rarely talks about her divorce. The American Idol winner admitted that she wanted to address it because some of her fans were concerned. But she remained mum because it’s a family matter.
Clarkson is concerned about her kids. She doesn’t want to speak about it because the issue is not just about her and her ex, there are kids involved.
“There’s a lot of hearts involved here,” the Because of You hitmaker told Entertainment Tonight.
“And you know, that’s the thing that’s been kind of hard to navigate is I am an open book, but at some point, I’m a mama bear more than I am a person in the public eye. So, I care one hundred percent more about my children than I do anything else on this planet.”
Clarkson added that she has been through two divorces – one from his parents and the other one with her ex-husband. Back then there were no social media.
Today almost everyone is on social media and she doesn’t want to make it harder for her kids. She knew that it’s already hard when one’s parent is popular.
Gwen Stefani who has been divorced from ex Gavin Rossdale for six years didn’t give any particular advice. But said that both of them are blessed with music.
The Hollaback Girl singer also teased fans about Clarkson’s upcoming record because she already got a sneak peek at some of the songs. In addition, Stefani gave a positive message about moving on and probably finding new love again.
“God, definitely, you know, opens a window when a door just closes, it’s true,” Stefani said.
Stefani added that being heartbroken would fuel Clarkson’s purpose to be a songwriter and singer. Also, being broken is something that everyone has to go through. It happens to everyone and with time, one can get over it.
“We all have to go through sad times, heartache, and if you look at it like, this is a test — we all have to go through this — that’s a good way to kinda get to the other side, because everybody gets to the other side eventually,” Stefani said.
Stefani is now happily in a relationship with Blake Shelton.
