Social media has become a very powerful tool in recent years. But, the case is seemingly different for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. This is because they have yet to return to using such sites and platforms.
An expert recently discussed how this would impact the couple’s brand. Eric Schiffer warned that this will be a “death trap” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex if they continue to refrain from using social networking sites, according to the Daily Express.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s brand needs interactivity
Speaking to Insider, the brand expert explained how quitting social media may result in a “death trap,” especially for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. He said that “entertainment at its core today requires interactivity.” Considering that the Sussex couple is trying to make their brand an entertainment one, they need to be “front and center on social.”
Schiffer, later on, rhetorically asked as to why the former working royals are not comfortable in putting themselves before the public through social media platforms. “Are they sending a message that they can’t bear to hear what we have to say?” he added.
Quitting social media following Megxit
The whole debacle concerning Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s social media usage emerged after sources told The Times that they will no longer use Twitter or Facebook. They are reportedly “rejecting” it as part of their “new progressive role” in the United States.
The same insider also claimed that they are “very unlikely” to return to using these kinds of platforms. Whether it is for a personal capacity or Archewell Foundation, they have “no plans” to utilize social media.
As the public would recall, the couple dropped their official social media profiles following their exit from the British Monarchy. They stopped using their Instagram account, and have since maintained their privacy in their new home.
Duke of Sussex debunked the allegations
Days after the allegations went public, Prince Harry denied all the assertions in an interview with Fast Company. He said that it was “news” to him and his wife, learning the supposed sources’ statements about their social media usage.
The royal-born Prince emphasized, though, that they “have no social media to quit” from in the first place. Nevertheless, reports believe that he and Meghan Markle might one day return. This is after the Duke of Sussex stated that they will “revisit social media when it feels right.”
