Meghan Markle’s family worry as ‘dad could die at any time’ amid Oprah interview

Meghan Markle’s sister, Samantha, has spoken out just hours before the Sussexes bombshell interview with Oprah airs, which relatives fear could affect Thomas Markle’s health.

Meghan Markle is set to take the world by storm this evening when her tell-all interview with chat show host Oprah Winfrey airs in the United States.

Now, her sister, Samantha Markle, has said she and their dad, Thomas, are getting ready to watch the two-hour CBS special which has been dubbed as “shocking” with nothing off-limits.

It’s believed that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 39, will speak on camera for the first time about her relationship with her estranged dad, 76, as well as her time behind the walls of Buckingham and Kensington Palace.

Samantha, 56, has revealed that she is horrified that Oprah and the Sussexes are still broadcasting the interview while Prince Philip remains in hospital.

She also believes that the shocking interview could have a negative effect on Thomas’ health.

“I’m worried all this could affect my dad’s health and it’s terrible that this is happening when Prince Philip is in hospital,” she told The Sunday Mirror.

Ms Markle went on to add: “It’s stressful to have someone making this drama and personal affronts on the family at a time when he’s so fragile.

“My dad could die at any time but it doesn’t seem to matter to Meghan. All that seems to matter to her is she gets her way, she’s like a bull in a china shop.”

Samantha claims that their father gave The Duchess “everything” but now believes that she is treating The Royal Family, the same way she is believed to have treated her family, which “hurt them deeply”.

Thomas, a former Hollywood lighting director is said to have spent thousands of dollars to ensure that Meghan attended private school as well as university.

Meghan is believed to have had no contact with Mr Markle after he participated in a pre-planned paparazzi photo shoot before her wedding ceremony to Prince Harry back in 2018.

However, the former Suits actress now lives in Montecito, California, after stepping down as a senior working member of The Mountbatten-Windsor family, while her dad lives just 240 miles away in Rosarito, Mexico.

Samatha went on to say that their father had been left in floods of tears as he couldn’t understand why The Duchess had cut off contact.

The mum-of-three previously told Daily Star that despite Meghan cutting ties with her relatives, “nobody did anything wrong to her”.

In arguably the most unprecedented royal interview since Diana, Princess of Wales spoke to BBC’s Martin Bashir, Meghan revealed that she would not remain silent if members of the family had spread lies about her.

On Wednesday, CBS dropped a dramatic thirty-second clip which saw Oprah, asking Meghan: “How do feel about the palace hearing you speak your truth today?”

Responding to Winfrey, Meghan says: “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent if there is an active role that The Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us.

“And if that comes with risks of losing things, I mean, there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

Oprah’s chat with the Duke and Duchess will air in the UK on Monday after ITV won a bidding war by coughing up £1 million for the rights to air the two-hour interview.
