How much were Harry and Meghan Paid for the bombshell Oprah Interview?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spilled the scalding hot tea on the royal family for free. The couple, who reportedly have a net worth of $10 million, weren’t paid for their interview with Oprah Winfrey but CBS paid a hefty sum of $7 million to Harpo Productions for the licensing rights. The seven-figure purchase allows CBS to license the interview in international markets.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed at the start of the interview that they didn’t receive payment to sit down with Winfrey.

Prince Harry, 36, and Markle’s finances came into question throughout the interview, as the redheaded royal revealed they were financially “cut off” by the family following their decision to reduce their roles.

The couple has been living off his inheritance from his late mom, Princess Diana, he revealed.

“Without that, we would not be able to do this,” in reference to leaving the monarchy.

Since relocating to Montecito, Calif., the couple has inked a $100 million deal with Netflix and launched their podcast, Archewell Audio, with Spotify. They also reportedly are earning $1 million per speech they make after hiring a top agency, so paying the bills isn’t a concern since being cut off from the royal coffers.

Prince Harry also said he suspected his mom, Princess Diana, “saw it coming” that he and his future wife would have trouble with the royal family, and sympathized Diana.

“I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side, because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for [Diana] going through this process by herself all those years ago,” Prince Harry said, adding, “because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us.”
