“I am looking at it very seriously, beyond seriously,” Trump told Sean Hannity during an interview on Fox News when he was asked if he were to run for president again. “From a legal standpoint, I don’t want to really talk about it yet, it’s a little too soon.”

“I got tremendous numbers, nobody’s ever gotten the numbers I got, no sitting president’s come even close,” Trump said, referring to his losing vote total in the 2020 election. “There’s more popularity now than there was the day before the election, because they see how bad things are at the border, they see what’s going on, they see there’s guns are going to be gone.”
Trump has criticized Republicans who have shot down his claims of voter fraud and rejected his policies.
During the interview at the former president’s Mar-A-Lago golf club, Hannity asked Trump if the Republican Party should fight over the former president’s voter fraud claims and his rejected policies.
“If they want to win, yes,” Trump replied. “We’ve expanded the Republican Party. You’ve seen. I mean, the Texas border, we have the biggest Hispanic vote since — as the governor said to me, he called me up, great governor, he said since reconstruction. I said, you’re talking about civil war, right? He said, since civil war. If you want to win and win big, you have to do that. You have to do it.”
Critics pounced on part of the interview where Trump told Hannity he continues to enjoy a close friendship with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. “He writes me letters, I like him, he likes me. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Nikki Haley are among those who have said they would support Trump if he secured the 2024 GOP nomination.
Trump’s niece, Mary, told Insider last month that her uncle would only pretend to run for president to make more money out of his supporters.
“It’s important to remember that Donald couldn’t care less about politics, he couldn’t care less about this country, he couldn’t care less about the Republicans,” Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist who last year published a tell-all book on her family, told Insider.
“It’s all about maintaining the grip on power,” she said. “He thinks on some level it’s going to allow him to continue to operate with impunity as he has done his whole life, and also it’s going to allow him to keep grifting money off of people.”
