Melania Trump’s Bizarre past Gifts from Husband Donald as she Celebrates Birthday

Former First Lady of the United States Melania Trump turns 51 on Monday, April 26 – and may well be overdue a special present from her husband following his recent track record

Former First Lady of the United States Melania Trump celebrates her birthday on Monday.

Born on April 26, 1970, Melania was raised in Sevnica, which is now in Slovenia but was then part of Yugoslavia, by her Communist party member father Viktor Knavs and mum Amalija Ulčnik.

Her big day is sure to be filled with much celebration – and Melania may even be due a nice present from her husband Donald following his record of previous years.

During his time as US President, Donald had a track record of marking special events by purchasing very simple gifts for his wife.

In 2018, he appeared in a Fox News interview on his wife’s birthday in which he revealed he “didn’t get her so much”.

At the beginning of the interview, Trump even suggested that the Fox News appearance itself might be considered a gift.

I picked a very, very special day because it’s Melania’s birthday,” he explained.

“So I said, ‘Let’s do it, on Melania’s birthday,’ so Happy Birthday to Melania.”

When host Brian Kilmeade asked Trump to share open up to the world on the special gift he’d chosen to buy for his wife, Trump replied: “Well I better not get into that, because I may get in trouble.

“Maybe I didn’t get her so much … You know, I’m very busy to be running out looking for presents, okay?”

But Trump added that he got her “a beautiful card and some beautiful flowers”.

It wasn’t the only time the former POTUS bragged about getting his wife a “beautiful card” while appearing to come up short in the gift-giving department.

On Christmas Eve 2019, Trump admitted he was “still working” on getting his first lady a holiday gift – with less than 24 hours to go until the big day.

While taking part in a video conference call with members of the US military stationed overseas during the holiday season, Mr Trump reportedly told a soldier who asked him what he got the first lady for Christmas.

He is reported to have said: “I got her a beautiful card.”

He added: “I’m still working on a Christmas present.”

The same year, the White House was accused by some people on social media of posting a “deeply weird” photo for the then-first lady’s birthday

Melania was shown looking flawless but slightly grumpy while sitting on a sofa in the Oval Office.

She is surrounded by reporters and photographers but none are focused on her, looking either at their cameras or at something beyond her.

Neither her husband nor her son Barron are with her and she looks very much alone.

Last year, Donald tried to organise a very special gift for his wife.

In an email to fellow Americans, he wrote: “Melania does so much for our Nation and I want to make sure she knows just how much she means to us.

I want to surprise her with a birthday card signed by 1 MILLION Americans from all around the Country.

But the submission page required anyone wanting to leave a message to add their first and last name, zip code, email address, and mobile number.

And the attempt to gather messages actually turned out to be an attempt to compile a list of Trump supporters ahead of the US Elections, The Atlantic reports.

The couple are expected to spend Melania’s birthday at the Mar-a-Lago resort, in Palm Beach, Florida, where they moved after leaving the White House.

“Happy birthday BWT,” she wrote, adding three red heart emojis, for her son, who was born Barron William Trump.

Melania accompanied the message with a picture of dark balloons that read “15” in an identical post to the silver “14” balloons she posted last year.

However, some Twitter users disapproved of Trump’s choice of photo for a social media post celebrating her son’s birthday – claiming it’s too dark.
