In a new interview, Woodley revealed the major health concern she faced that affected her physically.
Speaking for The Hollywood Reporter’s new cover story, Woodley said that she nears the end of her illness.
The 29-year-old actress previously claimed that she was too sick during her early 20s. However, she refused to reveal more details about it.
“I said no to a lot of projects, not because I wanted to but because I physically couldn’t participate in them,” Woodley said. “And I definitely suffered a lot more than I had to because I didn’t take care of myself.”
She added that she experienced pressure as she did not want anyone to help or take care of her. However, the idea, reportedly, caused more physical unrest on her part.
Still, she noted that she is about to graduate from the illness. The event would be exciting for her since the disease caused her to be isolated and alone for a while.
More clues about Woodley’s illness
In the same interview, she described her health status as something that cannot be observed by people externally.
“Unless someone can see that you have a broken arm or a broken leg, it’s really difficult for people to relate to the pain that you’re experiencing when it’s a silent, quiet and invisible pain,” she went on.
Amid her health battle, Woodley said that she learned positive things about it. She learned how not to pay so much attention to negativities since it makes everything worse than ever. Being involved in everything also put her away from immediate healing since she failed to focus on herself.
Because of that, she needed to miss a lot of opportunities as she tried to get better. Nonetheless, the roles Woodley did not score directly went to the colleagues she trusts and admires.
Though she continuously works in the past years, she, reportedly, feels worried if she would experience that again.
Regardless of that, Shailene Woodley remains thankful for everything in her life. The actress also feels grateful that she faced that situation since it made her realized that what she never want to ever go to.
The actress currently receives support from her fiance, Aaron Rodgers.
