Only two weeks prior, the millionaire had revealed their engagement and plans for a late summer wedding to one of his own newspapers, The New York Post. Vanity Fair revealed the news of their broken engagement.
Smith’s religious convictions reportedly caused Murdoch discomfort, according to the magazine, which claimed a close friend of the mogul. In New York City on St. Patrick’s Day after divorcing his fourth wife, supermodel Jerry Hall, he proposed to the former police chaplain.

The millionaire continued, “We’re both excited to spend the second half of our lives together. Murdoch met Smith in September 2022, only one month after he had finished his previous divorce. He told The New York Post, “Last year, when there were 200 guests at my vineyard, I met her and we spoke for a while. “I called her two weeks later.” Friends are pleased for Smith, who was previously married to the late CEO and country musician Chester Smith.

Following their divorce in 1967, he wed Anna Maria Torv, his second wife.
The couple got separated in 1999, the same year Murdoch wed Wendi Deng, his third wife, with whom he later got divorced in 2013. Six kids were born as a result of the three marriages.
In 2016, Murdoch and Hall were united in marriage during a civil ceremony at Spencer House in London. The couple was together for six years.
