New book says Prince Harry ‘driving force’ behind rift with royals not Meghan Markle

A recent book on the British royal family seems to defend Meghan Markle against claims that she distracted Prince Harry from his responsibilities as a member of the British royal family and his family.

According to royal biographer Robert Jobson’s book “Our King Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Exposed,” Megxit and the Duke of Sussex’s conflict with his family, particularly with his elder brother Prince William, was sparked by rumors that the former “Suits” actor.

In an extract from his book that The Sun was able to get, he said that some of the Duchess of Sussex’s advisors “blame” her for the consequences while disregarding the fact that Harry seems to be the catalyst for everything that occurred.

In the Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” Prince Harry has subsequently stated that his wife shouldn’t bear the guilt since it was his choice to abandon their royal responsibilities and leave the U.K.

Moreover, Jobson said that “most merely believe Harry has turned his back on all he has known,” as opposed to earlier claims that he was Meghan’s captive and that Harry was suffering from Stockholm syndrome. In the case of Stockholm Syndrome, the captives get emotionally attached to their captors.

He added, though, that Prince Harry and Prince William have been at odds for a long time, even before Meghan Markle entered the scene. Yet after meeting his future bride, it is said that Harry started talking more openly about his difficulties with royal life.

Although Queen Elizabeth II praised the duchess, according to Jobson, she believed that her grandson’s affection for the former actress “clouded his judgment.” He said that when the pair complained about the establishment to Oprah in March 2021, calling it “very wild” behind closed doors, Her Majesty struggled.

Whatever trust there had been between Prince Harry and his father and sibling was destroyed by the interview. Prince William and King Charles III were both alarmed by the duke’s “complete lack of prudence,” according to Jobson. They “neither felt they could totally trust him again and they resolved not to see him alone in the future” because of how much they distrusted him.

He stated: “I believe the Queen believed that his judgment was clouded because he was so much in love with Meghan, according to what I hear from those close to them. Her Majesty believed that.”

According to the author, the queen believed that her grandson had become “so absorbed” by his devotion to and love for his bride that he had lost touch with his family and his royal duties.

Jobson said, “The Queen also found it difficult to communicate with the Duke of Sussex because of his tense relationships with his brother and father “The calls from Prince Harry were very tough and tiresome for Her Majesty. She would encourage him to talk to his father since she didn’t want to interfere with their connection.”

In addition, the author said that Queen Elizabeth II was “devasted” when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle resigned from their royal responsibilities in 2020 (a move nicknamed Megxit).

In his autobiography “Spare,” the duke said that they first requested to be part-time working royals. They requested the opportunity to carry on their public service in Her Majesty’s name while working in another Commonwealth nation but were warned at the Sandringham Summit by King Charles III and his grandmother that they had to stay or go, a position shared by Sarah Ferguson as well.

In a recent interview, she stated: “You cannot have it all. Sitting on the fence with one foot in and one foot out is not an option. Don’t weep if you aren’t invited to weddings, however. You made the decision to travel, so now live it and be it.”
