According to reports, Prince Andrew won’t be penning a candid biography like the Duke of Sussex did. The Duke of York may have started writing his own book because of the commercial success of Prince Harry’s Spare, according to growing rumors.

Yet according to a reliable insider, Andrew has no desire to emulate his nephew and has purposely kept a low profile since his terrible interview with BBC Newsnight in November 2019. This information is reported by the Daily Mail. In an effort to dispel any ambiguity over his affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted child molester, Andrew had consented to the interview with Emily Maitlis.

With claims earlier this year that novelist Daphne Barak was the favorite to be his ghostwriter, there have been rumors that he was preparing another attempt to correct the record by publishing his tale. Yet, the source asserts that there are no plans and never have been for a book.

“The Duke has kept a low profile ever since Newsnight specifically to avoid harming the institution. He would never do anything to intentionally harm the family.” Since his Newsnight interview, which is being turned into a Netflix movie starring Rufus Sewell as Andrew and Gillian Anderson as Ms. Maitlis, the disgraced Duke has generally avoided the limelight.

In January 2022, the Queen ended her support of his military and charity endeavors. A month later, Virginia Giuffre’s legal action against him for allegedly sexually abusing her when she was 17 was settled out of court for an estimated £12 million. Andrew has categorically refuted the charges.

According to reports from earlier this year, he was considering filing a lawsuit to have the multimillion-pound settlement overturned. The only public appearance the Duke made after the incident was his attendance at his mother’s funeral in September of last year. On May 6, he will attend King Charles’ Coronation at Westminster Abbey, but he will not thereafter make an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, which is officially designated for “working royals.”

Whilst it’s unclear whether this would require taking legal action, he is nonetheless optimistic that he will entirely cleanse his reputation with respect to Ms. Giuffre. This year, Prince Harry’s book sold 3.2 million copies globally in a single week, making it the fastest-selling memoir in publishing history. Harry agreed to a four-book, £16 million advance agreement and is anticipated to make several times that much in royalties.

Previously, a source had said that Andrew was also trying to get in on the action since he had a lot longer life history to draw from than his nephew. Moreover, it was said that writing an autobiography would give Andrew more control over his message than any interview could and better prepare him to clear the air on his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and the ensuing fallout.

A lucrative book contract would certainly be a significant financial boost for Andrew, who is said to have claimed to acquaintances that he did not get an inheritance from the Queen when she went away. Two prestigious publishers were reportedly interested in the Duke’s memoir if it were to become available.
