King Charles III will be crowned on May 6 in a full Westminster Abbey, but at least one well-known person is expected to skip the ceremony. According to The Independent, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has not received an invitation to the celebration.

Ferguson, sometimes known as Fergie, is the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, the younger brother of Charles, and the mother of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, two of Charles’ nieces who are anticipated to attend the wedding.

It has not been confirmed that Andrew will attend the coronation, but he is also widely expected to attend the service with his siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. Andrew, who is no longer involved in the duties of the royal family due to the controversy surrounding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, has not been officially confirmed to attend.

Ferguson has always had a unique status within the royal family. She and Andrew were wed in a lavish royal ceremony in 1986 but later divorced in a scandal-filled divorce in 1992, according to Town & Country US.

Yet, the pair have remained together throughout the years at Royal Lodge in Windsor, and following the monarch’s passing in September last year, they even took over the care of her beloved corgis.

Others have hypothesized that she would also be invited to the coronation even though she isn’t considered a princess anymore but often attends royal functions with her children.

Ferguson’s revelation comes shortly after Buckingham Palace said it was “pleased to confirm” that Prince Harry, son of Charles, will attend the ceremony. Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, will stay in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
