Kane, who previously regained control of his brand after purchasing it back from Kering, unveiled a dazzling thirty-look collection at London’s Alva Coachwork Studios. The event signified a fresh start for the designer, showcasing his unparalleled creative talent. The collection drew from Kane’s archives, including nods to his iconic spring/summer 2007 designs. Crystal chainmail, intricate lace details, and bias-cut satin pieces highlighted his signature aesthetic, reaffirming his reputation as one of fashion’s most innovative minds.
Breaking from traditional fashion week norms, the presentation doubled as a live campaign and lookbook shoot, with attendees witnessing the collection come to life in real time. Influential figures such as model Edie Campbell, fashion editor Julia Restoin Roitfeld, and industry icons Katie Grand and Suzy Menkes were among the exclusive audience.
Self-Portrait founder and Creative Director Han Chong introduced the Residency program as a platform for designers to explore their creativity freely while benefiting from operational support. Reflecting on the collaboration, Chong said, “Self-Portrait Residency represents an ambition I’ve had for years: to create a space where creatives can come together, experiment freely, and shape something entirely unique.”
