Eva Longoria and Cate Blanchett put on a dramatic display in midnight blue gowns at 68th annual Cannes Film Festival.

Eva Longoria and Cate Blanchett lead a stream of stars in some of the biggest dresses ever to meet a red carpet in Cannes tonight.

The pair were joined by Natasha Poly, Erin O’Connor, Lindsay Ellingson and more in their giant frocks as they wowed in front of the cameras at the Carol premiere.

Brunette beauty Eva lead in a dramatic navy number, showing off her slim frame and toned waist before springing out in a fishtail style at her feet. With her hair tied back, the star looked elegant and classy in the outfit, and couldn’t fail to turn heads everywhere.

She was joined by an even more dramatic Cate, who opted for a huge patterned number for her big night.

The huge dress drowned her tiny figure as she struggled contain all the material on the steep staircase. But she of all people can pull off risk like this.

Meanwhile Natasha Poly risked all in a leotard and huge white skirt, exposing her entire leg and giving what has to be the best leg bomb ever seen.

Cate was rumoured to have had relationships with women in the past recently, but today took the opportunity in sunny France to slam the claims, adding: "In 2015 the point should be ‘who cares’."

Cate has been the talk of the French Riviera after she reportedly told Variety magazine she has had "many" female partners.

But yesterday she cleared up the speculation around who her female lovers might be by saying she had been misquoted. She said: "From memory the conversation ran: ‘Have you had relationships with women?’

"And I said: "Yes, many times. If you mean I’ve had sexual relationships with women, the answer is no. But that obviously didn’t make it to print. But in 2015 the point should be ‘who cares’."
