J.W. Anderson Wins Big at British Fashion Awards

The Irish designer took home the awards for both menswear and womenswear designer of the year.

Jonathan Anderson, the 30-year-old founder and creative director of his namesake label, J.W. Anderson, had the best Monday ever, taking home both the menswear and womenswear designer of the year title at the British Fashion Awards. Not a bad way to start the week.

The Irish-born designer, who also designs for LVMH-owned womenswear label Loewe, is no stranger to the stage, having won an award for the past four years. In 2012, he was awarded the emerging designer award for the ready-to-wear category; in 2013, he took home the prize for new establishment designer; and in 2014 he won the menswear designer of the year title.

There were a total of 17 winners at this year’s awards, which were voted upon by a list of 800 industry members. The prizes were announced before a crowd of industry vets and celebs alike, including Lady Gaga, Kate Bosworth, Alexa Chung and Karl Lagerfeld, who was presented with a lifetime achievement award by the one and only Anna Wintour.
