Let it be known that if you throw a not-very-nice tweet at Katy Perry, she’ll respond to you with an extra side of sass. The singer was seemingly doing an impromptu Q&A with fans on Twitter when one lovely person decided to bring up the performance of her latest single ‘Rise’. "Rise flopped and your career is over. @katyperry," the absolute charmer posted. Perry’s response? "See you at my show 2K17." Amazing.
But it also kind of reveals some very important information. Katy Perry is definitely planning on touring in 2017. There had been reports and rumours for a while, but this seemingly confirms once and for all that her next world tour will start next year. That also means we’ll be getting her fourth (fifth if you count the Katy Hudson one) studio album sometime soon too. We wouldn’t rule out a last-minute push for a release later this year, y’know. It would be silly to miss out on the big Christmas rush.
As for ‘Rise’ not doing very well, it peaked at No.11 in the US and No. 25 in the UK. Yeah, that’s not the chart-topping success Katy has enjoyed previously, but it was only put out as a promotional track to soundtrack NBC’s Rio 2016 Olympics coverage, so it actually did okay. Especially when you consider that other major artists have put out their proper lead singles with loads of promo and haven’t managed to hit the same peak. Either way, it looks like we’ll be getting the proper Katy Perry lead single soon, which is a very exciting thought indeed.
