Every year, the NAACP Image Awards honor the best Black creators in the world and 2020 is no exception.
From Lizzo to Yara Shahidi, the 51st annual NAACP Image Awards brought all of the biggest stars together for another memorable evening.
Among the major wins for the night were Lizzo for Entertainer of the Year, Marsai Martin for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Tracee Ellis Ross for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, and Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us for Outstanding Television Movie, Limited-Series or Dramatic Special.
Rihanna was also awarded the President’s Award, which is given in regard to one’s special achievement and distinguished public service, and she proceeded to give an iconic speech about equality that left us in tears.
But, of course, no award show would be complete without a red carpet beforehand. And as expected, many attendees came prepared with lewks to show off.
Drama and flair seemed to be the theme of the red carpet fashion, with stars opting for looks that combined glamour and elegance in beautiful ways.
The beauty game was no joke either, with everyone ensuring both their hair and makeup had its time to shine.
