Asia’s largest fashion event, HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter, will run concurrently with the glamorous HKTDC World Boutique, Hong Kong on 13-16 January 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The twin fairs present to the world the latest trends in the fashion industry, as well as offering a platform of business opportunities.
With more than 40 years’ of history, Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter will once again stage the latest collections, the trendiest designs and products for the fashion industry. The coming 45th edition expects around 1,500 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions, and features the debut zones – Active wear, Packaging and Design, and Wool & Cashmere which buyers have indicated would fill the market needs as they vie to attract business in a highly competitive environment. Zones such as Denim Arcade, Fashion Jewellery Feast, Infant & Children’s Wear, Men in Style and Salon of Scarves and Shawls have recently joined the market sector specific zones which allow exhibitors to meet the buyers who are their potential business partners.
To date, the fair have secured group pavilions from the Chinese mainland, India, Macau and Taiwan. To give exhibitors more promotion opportunities, the fair features a series of house shows and fashion parades to showcase selected exhibits on the catwalk. Throughout the fair period, various international fashion forecasting agencies, including Peclers Paris and WGSN, have been invited to unveil the fashion trends in 2014. International and local fashion designers will also be speaking about contemporary Nordic fashion and their work during the fair.
Held concurrently is World Boutique, Hong Kong, which is a consortium of international fashion brands and designer collections. The fair will showcase over 560 world renowned fashion brands from 18 countries and regions, such as Allexandre Kangala, Che Che New York, Pascal Piveteau and Vivienne Westwood, as well as local fashion designers and fashion chains such as Dorian Ho and Ho Kin Wah, 2%, 5cm, izzue, Mini Cream, Moiselle and musium etc. Numerous local and overseas industry associations, including the Federation of Hong Kong Footwear, Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, Knitwear Innovation & Design Society, Redress and Japan Fashion Leather Designers, PromPeru Pavilion, The Spanish Textile & Clothing Association and Taiwan Textile Federation will stage catwalk shows or will form group pavilions in the fair.
The highlighted Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza on 13 January features fashion collections of Amaya Arzuaga based in Madrid, Calla Haynes based in Paris, Henry Lau based in Hong Kong, and also Masha Ma presented by W Hotels Worldwide, who is based in Paris and Shanghai.
On 14 January, Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2014, a nurturing ground for fashion talent, will present creative designs by 16 contestants and will announce the winning pieces.
To spread the stylish excitement to the general public, “Hong Kong in Fashion”, a month long promotion tied to World Boutique, Hong Kong, will be launched in January. The event will feature street snap competition, a series of fashion parade, displays and workshops in venues throughout Hong Kong.
