Last year at Halloween, where it was all things Michael Jackson, this year we will be seeing a lot of variety. The most popular costumes trends for this year include ‘Blue’ theme including ‘Avatar’ and ‘Alice in the Wonderland’ ‘Red’ theme including ‘Twilight’ ‘True Blood’ and ‘Vampire Diaries’.
But bigger news is the emergence of reality-show stars, including Dog the Bounty Hunter, Pauly D, Kat Von D and Kim Kardashian, and the many wacky looks of Lady Gaga, from her notorious meat dress to poker face look. The pop star’s outrageous ensembles made her a costume favorite last year as well, when many fans put together their own interpretations. Now Party City is stocking a host of Gaga accessories, including bow-shaped wigs and more complete costumes to help the less creative, including her white belly-baring outfit from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
In addition to that, there are ripples of other trends as well, including retro costumes such as Gumby or those inspired by old TV shows including “I Love Lucy,” “The Brady Bunch” and “Sesame Street.” Besides, Disney Princesses, Iron Man, Spider Man and Lindsay Lohan in jail attire will also be seen this year.
