VENICE, CA, NOVEMBER 8, 2012: Blik, the innovative maker of self-adhesive surface graphics, has teamed up with their Venice-based neighbors WRAPPED to launch a new line of graphics based on WRAPPED’s artfully-crafted gift wrap. The WRAPPED x Blik line includes Shadow, 90291 and Charles Arnoldi for Wrapped, Macro.
WRAPPED was launched a year ago by Ryland Arnoldi and Sam Seidman when the duo set out to do what they love most: translate their passion for art and nature beyond wrapping paper. Arnoldi and Seidman introduced a groundbreaking idea: wrapping paper as art rather than a disposable shell.
Blik + WRAPPED
Shadow and 90291 can best be described as wrapping paper for your walls or wall wrap. Blik has given WRAPPED’s artistic gift wrap a Blik twist. Made from self-adhesive vinyl, the wall wraps (which have six sheets in a package) are durable and meant to adhere to any smooth flat surface. The wraps originate from high-res photography and showcase the vibrant colors.
Macro is a based on Charles Arnoldi’s (Ryland’s father) Middle America, allowing consumers to recreate part of his massive artwork (the original piece is 16′) by creating their own “windows” as Arnoldi calls them with the brilliant assortment of colors and shapes.
“We liked WRAPPED’s take on traditional wrapping paper and were drawn to the fact that Ry and Sam were local to Venice,” said Flora. “When we found out Chuck Arnoldi was behind it, everything clicked. We’ve been admirers of Arnoldi’s work for years. WRAPPED is one of those examples that demonstrates the convergence of original ideas happening in Venice.
All his life, Ryland Arnoldi observed his artist-father, Charles Arnoldi, protect his work table with butcher paper that became saturated with paint, and then watch him tear off pieces of the paint-spattered material and use it as gift wrap. “It was amazing to see how he could transform an ordinary package into an art-like object. People were extremely careful when unwrapping his presents, as they wanted to save the paper. I witnessed how great wrapping paper can transform the entire experience of receiving a gift into something truly extraordinary,” Arnoldi said. “My father’s approach to gifts planted a seed in my mind that eventually grew into the launch of WRAPPED.”
“Scott (Flora, Blik co-founder) inspired us to branch out and make products other than our standard wrapping paper,” said Arnoldi. “He opened up a whole new world for us and it really had a profound impact on the way we built WRAPPED.”
Since the initial launch a year ago, the team has grown the line beyond wrapping paper to include a collection of paper goods, journals, postcards, invitations and stationery graced with nature and art. The next evolution is Blik x WRAPPED graphics.
Like Blik, all WRAPPED products are proudly made in the USA. The Blik X WRAPPED graphics are now available at Blik. High-res images are available.
