Blake Shelton has shared a rare insight into life as a stepfather, revealing that for Thanksgiving he helped Gwen Stefani‘s three sons bake a bacon-wrapped turkey.
The blended family of five had an extra special festive season in 2021 as it was their first one as a married couple. The Voice stars tied the knot in July 2021 on Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma, where they got engaged in October 2020, and they split their time between Oklahoma and Los Angeles where Gwen’s children attend school.
They keep their family life private but Blake has now shared new details of their holiday season, telling Sounds Like Nashville that the boys had seen a picture of the bird wrapped in bacon and that it was “happening”.
“There’s no talking them out of it, based on the picture that they saw, which was the greatest picture you’ve ever seen,” Blake added, clearly as enthused about the venture as Kingston, 15, Zuma, 13, and Apollo, seven.
Before the big American holiday, Gwen shared that they would be spending it in Oklahoma, but that it would be the first time they had returned since the wedding.
“We have a new house there, we have a new life there. So, it’s going to be our first married Thanksgiving, very grateful, very excited,” she shared.
That same month Blake revealed on social media that he would be releasing a song titled We Can Reach The Stars, which he wrote specifically for his wife as his vows on their wedding day.
He posted a beautiful snapshot of the two from their wedding, overlooking the gorgeous Oklahoma landscape in the background.
In the caption, he wrote: “Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead…
“#WeCanReachTheStars. Midnight. Pre-order #BodyLanguage (Deluxe) now.”
The wedding was officiated by Carson Daly and revealed Blake’s incredible gesture for Gwen during a segment on Today, describing the wedding as “the perfect mix of country and glamor, of course, just like Blake and Gwen.”
