Gabrielle Union recalled her pain after discovering that Dwyane Wade was having a baby with another woman. The married life of Gabriel Union and Dwyane Wade was tested long before they welcomed their only daughter.
Union spoke candidly about the time she went through extreme pain after her husband, Wade, had a baby with another woman. In her essay for Time, Union revealed what happened between her and Wade when she found out the heartbreaking news.
According to the 48-year-old, they decided to take some time off in 2013. But at that time, Wade had his first child, Xavier Zechariah Wade, with another woman.

“It should go without saying that we were not in a good place at the time that child was conceived,” Union wrote. “But we were doing much better when he finally told me about the pregnancy. To say I was devastated is to pick a word on a low shelf for convenience.”
She noted that people felt upset after finding out how she never talked about that particular trauma. But Union, as Wade’s wife, failed to find the words to explain what she went through.
Union suffered from infertility and multiple IVF cycles. She also went through eight or nine miscarriages. In pursuit of “fixing herself” and finally conceiving, she considered taking Lupron despite its potential side effects that include brittle bones and early menopause. But Wade, in return, said she already did enough.
In the essay, what her husband told her at that time sounded more of a failure. It added to the heavy feeling she felt due to the endless cycle of loss.
“Clearly, my feelings weren’t originating from a healthy place. So much of what made the decision so difficult was that if I didn’t submit to a surrogacy, then I was convinced I needed to let Dwyane go,” she went on.
Although Union did not want to see him with another woman, she reportedly had to so he could find someone who could give him what he wanted.

When she began her surrogacy journey, the matriarch suffered from fears but tried to overcome them when they finally saw their daughter during an ultrasound session.
She recalled how much she cried at that time, remembering her miscarriages that could have brought them, potential babies. She then revealed it took 38 hours of labor before she was born. Since the umbilical cord was tied around the baby’s ankle, the doctors had to perform a c-section.
