Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became the subject of buzzes again after the couple, reportedly, put their Montecito home on sale. Do Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to move out of their Montecito home?
Reports emerged this week that Prince Harry and Meghan are selling their home in Montecito. It serves as their first permanent home since they stepped down as senior royal members of the royal family.

However, after months of staying in Santa Barbara County, the couple, reportedly, started selling the Montecito mansion again. Royal watchers immediately questioned the report, although the Sussexes had not confirmed it, since the couple cashed out $14 million for their new home.
In reality, it was not actually Meghan and Prince Harry who listed their house. Instead, it was their neighbor who wants to sell the property besides their home. According to New York Post, the 16,668 square foot mansion in question stands right next to their home. The current selling price of the property is $22 million.
In August 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially bought the property near the seaside of Santa Barbara County. The mansion was originally built in 2003 based on Mediterranean designs. It boasts its library, gym, saunas, elevator, arcade, and home theater. The nearly 19,000 square feet space also has nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms.

The new epilogue of Finding Freedom revealed the real reason why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose the location to have a permanent home in. Per the book, the Sussexes’ friends – including Oprah Winfrey – suggested the county as a “perfect place to raise a family, specifically Montecito, where houses sat within double-gated communities for maximum privacy yet were close enough to the amenities of civilization when needed.”
Before choosing the place, they initially lived in Canada for a few months after Megxit before residing at Tyler Perry’s mansion in Beverly Hills. After buying the Montecito home, Meghan chose to stay there with their two kids – baby Archie and Lili – while Prince Harry already visited the U.K. on two different occasions.

Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex jetted back to the U.K. to attend Prince Philip’s funeral. In July, he came back again for the unveiling of the statue of his late mother, Princess Diana. Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly that Meghan always wanted to reside in the county even before her royal wedding.
“Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture. Moving there was always an option, but to begin with, she and Harry wanted to give Los Angeles a shot,” the insider said, per Cosmopolitan.
