Meghan Markle’s wedding speech reportedly left her pals “in shocked silence”. The Duchess of Sussex raised eyebrows during her wedding speech when she married Prince Harry in 2018.
Meghan, the former Suits actress, left pals in shocked silence as she spoke about her first marriage and subsequent divorce. During her speech after tying the knot with the Duke of Sussex, now aged 37, at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel in 2018, Meghan branded the future father to her two kids “the One“.
Meghan now lives in the United States with Harry and their two kids, baby Lilibet Diana – or Lili – and Archie Harrison. Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in Finding Freedom: “A first for a royal bride, the move reinforced the idea that this American was no typical duchess.”
You could hear a “pin drop” during Meghan’s words, they add. Meghan paid tribute to Harry’s dad Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, for giving her away at the wedding with her dad Thomas Markle Sr absent. And she branded Harry “the One” and “worth the wait” after her divorce from Trevor Engelson.
Her speech was a “first” for a royal bride and came after millions watched the pair tie the knot. The pair quit life as senior royals two years ago.
