Wendy Williams is having issues with Wells Fargo. This comes amid the daytime talk show host’s ongoing health issues. She wants the big bank to unfreeze her assets. The bank cited “financial exploitation, dementia, or undue influence” as the reason behind her frozen assets. The 57-year-old has been absent from her eponymous talk show since September 2021.
Her last appearance on the show was in July 2021. Wendy has been taking time away to focus on her health. She sued Wells Fargo after they froze her assets because they claimed she was “of unsound mind.” Meanwhile, there are conflicting reports about Wendy’s mental and physical health.
Wendy Williams is trying to access her assets
According to the court filings obtained by The Sun, Wendy Williams is in a fight with Wells Fargo over her assets. She claims that the bank is in “possession of several million dollars worth of funds.” Wells Fargo denied her funds for about two weeks. Wendy’s attorney says that her former financial advisor told the bank that she “was of unsound mind.”
As a result, Wells Fargo denied the former radio personality access to her bank accounts and statements. They are sticking behind their decision to keep the assets frozen. They cited the client agreement, which reads that they will choose to “‘pause or reject instructions for a proposed transaction,’ pending judicial or administrative remedies, should they suspect financial exploitation, dementia, or undue influence.”
However, Wendy’s legal team thinks the bank overstepped its boundaries. They argue that Wendy Williams does not have any transactions that the bank should pause or reject. Her attorney is currently fighting this case on her behalf. They are filing a court order that allows her “access to her financial accounts, assets, and statements” while her legal battle with Wells Fargo is resolved in arbitration.
The petition also claims that the bank is in breach of its agreement and that the host is suffering “imminent and irreparable financial damage” as a result. Her legal team fired back. They demand access to her bank account within 48 hours. It’s not just for Wendy’s sake, but the sake of her team.
The talk show’s private health battle
Meanwhile, Wendy Williams is struggling with her health behind closed doors. She’s been dealing with a secret medical crisis. Sources close to the host of The Wendy Williams Show said she’s not the same as she used to be. In fact, she doesn’t have the same wit or spark in her eye anymore.
Wendy is currently dealing with multiple health problems. In September 2021, she said that she was dealing with the symptoms of Graves’ disease and a breakthrough case of COVID-19. It’s unclear when Wendy will return to the show. In the meantime, fill-in guest hosts will continue well into February.
While she’s dealt with health issues for years, this is the longest time she’s been off the air. Wendy has yet to address her fans and viewers on social media. It’s unlikely that she will, according to insiders. Wendy’s fans are hoping that she will make her grand return soon.
