Wendy Williams continued to be out of sight following her recent hiatus, and she also missed the premiere of her show.
On Monday, The Wendy Williams Show came back without Wendy Williams and presented a four-person panel instead. Instead of the eponymous host, Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister, Michael Yo, and Devyn Simone launched the new installment.

Due to William’s absence, the four-piece were the ones to ask the audience the host’s signature phrase, “How you doin’?”
As the show never told the viewers the real cause of Williams’ inability to join the premiere, Yo came forward and greeted her on aid.

“Wendy, I know you’re watching right now, and on behalf of myself, our panel, your co-hosts, we love you and can’t wait to have you back in that purple chair,” he said.
No one addressed the exact reason why Williams failed to make it to the show. However, previous reports revealed that the host was still “too sick” to return to the stage. Before the premiere, the show’s social media accounts revealed the real reason why the original host would not be able to start Season 13 herself.

“Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis. She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition,” the caption said.

It also revealed that the host needed more time before she would be able to go back to her hosting duties.
Despite her absence, the show let her know how valuable she has been in the Debmar-Mercury family in the past 12 years. Instead of asking her to go back, the show chose to let her rest as much as needed to ensure her faster recovery.
The Wendy Williams Show Season 13 was supposed to arrive on September 20. However, she faced several issues that halted the launch.

Aside from her thyroid problems, the host also suffered from COVID-19 after testing positive for the virus. At that time, she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
Her thyroid disease was the same reason why she previously paused her talk show. She began suffering from the symptoms of the illness in 2018 due to the overproduction of her thyroid hormones.
