The Duke of Cambridge was left “reeling” with Meghan Markle over the comments she made about Kate Middleton in her Oprah Winfrey interview, it has been claimed by an expert.
Prince William‘s “head was all over the place” after his sister-in-law accused Kate of making her cry over the now infamous bridesmaid dress fitting ahead of the Sussexes’ 2018 royal wedding.
Initial reports suggested Kate, who had just given birth to Prince Louis, was “left sobbing” amid the tense argument as demands were made over the flower girl dresses.
Princess Charlotte was part of the bridal party, along with Meghan’s goddaughters Rylan and Remi Litt, best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter Ivy and Prince Harry’s goddaughters Zalie Warren and Florence van Cutsem.
In November 2018, insiders claimed a “stressful” dress fitting took place in the run-up to the royal wedding – with the pressure of Meghan’s “demands” getting too much for Kate.
Insiders claim the Duchess of Cambridge fell out with the Duchess of Sussex because Princess Charlotte’s dress did not fit and further fittings needed to be scheduled. But Meghan later said the opposite happened.
The source added: “Kate had only just given birth to her third child, Prince Louis, and was feeling quite emotional.”
However, during her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said “the reverse happened” and she was left crying a few days before her nuptials to Prince Harry.
She said: “A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.
“Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true. I am not sharing that piece about Kate to be in any way disparaging about her. I would hope that she would want that to be corrected.”
Meghan stated it would not be fair to reveal further information as Kate had apologized.
Royal editor Roya Nikkhah claims that William and Kate had very different reactions to Meghan’s claims, writing: “William was ‘reeling’ with his ‘head all over the place’, furious that his brother and sister-in-law had taken aim at his wife and his family.”
