The luxury vintage curators of LXR & Co. are pleased to announce the official grand opening of their flagship store in New York’s SoHo area at 112 Wooster Street. After a successful two-month run as a pop-up boutique for the 2013 holiday season, best known for the “Birkin Bar,” LXR & Co. permanently opened their doors on February 4th, 2014, just in time to kick of New York Fashion Week. The opening night celebrations, hosted by DJ and “It” girl, Hannah Bronfman, unveiled unique custom designed artwork by Mike Frederiqo as well as a conceptual fashion film directed by Jenna Elizabeth.
The brand’s second store embodies the LXR & Co. vision to become a leader in the “brick-and-click” retail integration. “There are great synergies between our online business and brick-and-mortar stores, the daily contact with our clients allows us to better understand their needs and aspirations. Being in SoHo also gives us access to an international clientele that we don’t reach online today,’’ says Frederick Mannella, Founder/CEO of LXR & Co.
To celebrate this major milestone for the brand, LXR & Co. partnered with The Hague-based artist and illustrator, Mike Frederiqo, whose custom work for the brand was unveiled at the opening. Most recognized for his colorful cartoon-like illustrations of designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Coco Chanel, Louis Vuitton and more, Frederiqo has created a unique series of artwork on LXR & Co.’s coveted vintage Louis Vuitton trunks and Chanel handbags, which will be on display at the LXR & Co store for the month of February.
‘’Mike Frederiqo’s style was a perfect fit with the LXR & Co. brand identity and culture. His work is fun, engaging and brings a new twist to the very traditional luxury industry.’’ – Explains Frederick Mannella of the collaboration.
Furthermore, LXR & Co. brought in fashion filmmaker, Jenna Elizabeth, known for her uniquely edgy short films to bring Frederiqo’s artwork to life with a conceptual film shot in collaboration with the Circus Warehouse that was projected at the store’s grand opening. The film incorporates a unique series of bodies in motion interacting with Frederiqo’s custom artwork in a way like never before seen in fashion. “We have the chance to sell the most beautiful fashion accessories in the world, we wanted to go off the beaten path and find new ways to put them in action.’’ – Adds Mannella on the reason for the fashion film collaboration.
The store itself is another piece of artwork brought into the equation. Designed by architect Gregory Okshteyn of Studios Go, the space is almost unrecognizable from its pop-up counterpart, appearing in sleek charcoal grey rather than the white that coated the pop-up’s walls initially. Glass vitrines line the middle of the high-ceilinged store full of sparkling vintage jewelry from brands like Chanel, Cartier, Rolex and more. And, of course, the store would not be complete without the much buzzed-about “Birkin Bar” – an art-installation type of display of the brand’s extensive collection of rare Hermès Birkin handbags, now complete with a permanent bar upgrade.
Offering unparalleled access to designer vintage accessories for women and men alike, LXR & Co. will now extend its impressive offering to New York residents and visitors full-time. Fashion lovers can continue to take advantage of their incredible service and highly curated authentic product offering online at LXRCo.com, which offers daily sales on vintage designer accessories from brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Gucci, Dior, and more, all at up to 80% off their original retail cost.
