This marks the fourth cohort of students to receive support under the AEO Steven A. Davis Scholarship for Social Justice, a program dedicated to empowering young leaders committed to social justice and community change.
These latest scholarship recipients join 64 previous scholars who have benefited from the program. The selection criteria focused on students who demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing social justice and effecting change within their communities. This includes supporting causes related to mental health advocacy, LGBTQIA+ youth programming, and equality for people of color.
Each scholarship recipient will receive $10,000 per year, for up to four years, to assist with expenses related to their post-secondary education, including tuition, housing, and books. In addition to financial support, the program offers recipients an experiential opportunity to prepare for the corporate world. Scholars have the chance to participate in a mentoring program where they can be matched with an AEO mentor, providing guidance in both career and personal development throughout their undergraduate studies.
Jay Schottenstein, executive chairman and CEO of AEO, expressed pride in this year’s scholarship recipients, stating, “We are a company that has always been deeply committed to equity, access, and belonging – which is rooted in a belief that acceptance and education have the power to dismantle racism and discrimination in all forms.”
He continued, “Our associate scholars are creating positive change in their local communities, and we are honored to reward their pursuit to build a more inclusive and tolerant society through this unique scholarship opportunity that helps them achieve their dreams.”
The AEO Steven A. Davis Scholarship for Social Justice continues to make a significant impact, supporting young leaders as they work to create a more just and equitable society. The program not only provides financial assistance but also fosters personal and professional growth, equipping scholars with the tools they need to succeed and make a difference in the world.
