Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided not to give Archie a title, it cannot be denied that he is still part of the Royal Family.
The 15-month-old kid is the seventh in line to the British throne, and it will eventually move up in the line of succession when his grandfather replaces Queen Elizabeth II.
Will Archie accept the royal title when he grows up?
According to Express, it is still up to Archie if he wants to have a royal title and be His Royal Highness or not. He can decide about the matter when he turns 18 years old, which is still quite far from today.
If he agrees, it may be quite awkward to his parents, who stripped off their HRH titles after they officially stepped down as senior royals in March. Anyhow, they remain to be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
When Prince Charles becomes the new King, the next in line will be Prince William and his kids, followed by Prince Harry and Archie.
Archie will be the sixth in line then. He will then have to follow the 2013 Succession of the Crown Act. So, if he wants to get married, he needs to obtain permission from the monarch.
It will either be Prince Charles or Prince William, who will likely be on the throne when he comes of age to tie the knot. The Cambridge kids also need to follow the same rule when they grow up.
“Should the children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wish to marry, they will be required to seek the sovereign’s permission,” royal expert Iain MacMarthanne told the Express.
However, the condition may change if one of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s kids gets married and has a child before Archie.
This only means that Prince Harry and his kid will be further down the line. The same thing may happen if the Cambridges will have a fourth child.
The line of succession to the British throne
According to Cosmopolitan, the 2013 Succession of the Crown Act may become outdated when the Sussex and Cambridge kids get married. It may be more of a formality then than it is today.
So far, Queen Elizabeth remains to be the leader of the monarchy and 15 other Commonwealth realms. Prince Charles can only ascend the throne if his mother steps down or dies.
The Prince of Wales remains to be the first in line to the throne, followed by Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Prince Harry is sixth in the line of succession, while Master Archie is seventh.
