Calvin Harris was praised for breaking the golden Coachella rule which will reportedly cost them a fortune

Now that Coachella season is officially in full swing, fans are still talking about the concerts from the previous weekend. This year’s Calvin Harris closing set on Sunday night, which festival participants claim violated curfew, was one of the biggest attractions in the desert.

In addition to performing his biggest songs including “One Kiss,” “Slide,” and “What You Came For,” the DJ and music producer also brought out his most recent partner Ellie Goulding for a special performance of their brand-new song, “Miracle.”

Fans were especially impressed when Calvin continued to perform after the severe curfew, especially given that he started his act roughly 30 minutes late.

An audience member who posted a clip from the performance to TikTok stated: “Apparently performers at Coachella get charged $1000/minute if they stay past 1 am due to the curfew…

At 1.09 a.m., Calvin Harris. Yes, Coachella is charged a bomb by the city of Indio for each minute they stay out over curfew, according to a TMZ story.

According to the city’s agreement with Goldenvoice, the festival is subject to a daily fine of $20,000 for the first five minutes after curfew and an additional $1,000 for each additional minute.

Fans were ecstatic to see Calvin prepared to take a financial hit to ensure his audience had a nice night, though. Oh how I enjoy being European, a TikToker wrote.

Another remarked, “Calvin Harris raised us and is still going strong.” “There’s a certain sense of dopamine when you experience an artist who truly cares about their art and guest experiences instead of profit,” gushed a third.

Calvin, though, reportedly broke the curfew order more than once. The festival reportedly ran past curfew on Friday by 25 minutes and Saturday by 22 minutes.

Over the course of the weekend, the festival reportedly paid a whopping $117,000 in fines.
Officials from the city claim that the money will be used to directly fund the city’s public works, police, and fire services, as well as other running expenses.

Both Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean appeared to perform sets in their respective headline slots after curfew. On Sunday night, after starting about an hour late, Frank told the crowd, “Guys I’m being told it’s a curfew, so that’s the end of the show.”

Fans who had traveled from far and wide and waited six years to see Frank couldn’t help but acknowledge that they were a little let down by the performance. Let’s hope that next weekend goes a little more smoothly!
