Queen Camilla stepped out on her own for a significant engagement during a surprise tour of Northern Ireland with King Charles. While the royal couple undertook several joint engagements in Belfast on Wednesday, Camilla dedicated time to a cause close to her heart.

Buckingham Palace provided an update on the Queen’s solo engagement, sharing photo highlights from her visit to the Atlas Women’s Centre in Lisburn.

“In Lisburn, The Queen spent time at Atlas Women’s Centre, a community-focused organisation dedicated to empowering women, families, and individuals,” the statement read.

“The centre provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where participants feel at home, to learn, exchange knowledge and share experiences with others.”

The statement continued, “Having marked their 30th-anniversary last year, the centre offers services such as courses, workshops, counselling, support groups, and childcare.”

Camilla’s visit highlights her commitment to supporting women and families, reinforcing her long-standing advocacy for community-driven initiatives. The Atlas Women’s Centre has played a vital role in fostering education and support networks for women over the past three decades.

This engagement comes just ahead of the royal couple’s much-anticipated State Visit to Italy, which will also coincide with their 20th wedding anniversary.

Previously, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will arrive in Rome on April 7, just two days before their anniversary. Their visit will include an audience with Pope Francis, further cementing the diplomatic and cultural ties between the UK and Italy.

As Queen Camilla continues to champion causes related to women’s empowerment and community development, her visit to the Atlas Women’s Centre stands as a testament to the monarchy’s evolving role in social advocacy. With the upcoming trip to Italy on the horizon, the royal couple remains actively engaged in both domestic and international commitments.
