Queen heartbreak: Prince Charles sparks regency fears – ‘Can’t expect her to continue’

QUEEN ELIZABETH II has been stepping aside and giving Prince Charles more responsibilities amid speculation that she could take early retirement.

The Queen, 94, became the longest-reigning British monarch in 2015 as she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria. But royal experts are beginning to question whether she will abdicate and pass the throne on to Prince Charles, 71.

Royal editor Robert Jobson explained how the Prince of Wales has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting the past few years as the Queen can’t be expected “to continue at the same pace”.
