The French footwear designer, Christian Louboutin, in partnership with the American burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, has forayed into fashion with his first-ever lingerie design venture.
The 51-year-old Parisian shoemaker has roped in the 42-year-old dancer-cum-model-cum-costume designer to create a new limited-edition seven-piece innerwear range.
Adorned with lace trims and toile de Jouy motifs drawn by Louboutin himself, the line, which is currently available for purchase at the French intimate apparel retailer Glamuse, features a bra with matching string and high-waist knickers, a bodice, a negligee kimono and suspender belts.
Based on a palette of black and white colours, the Italian silk made collection titled XXXtian has been named after the footwear designer’s email signature Xtian.
Launched in 2005, the e-commerce site Glamuse has delivered women’s clothing, lingerie and accessories to almost 300, 000 customers since the day of its inception.
The multifaceted entrepreneur owns a namesake lingerie label entitled Von Follies by Dita Von Teese, launched in 2012. She also has designed a stylish maternity innerwear line with the US-based maternity apparel retailer Destination Maternity.
Louboutin has designed women’s shoes for big labels like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Maud Frizon. His celebrity client list comprises names like Christina Aguilera, Joan Collins, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Marion Cotillard, Nicki Minaj, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Founded in 1982, the Philadelphia-based Destination Maternity operates through a network of over 2,008 retail locations, including 625 stores, in the US and Canada.
