Hal Holbrook dead: All the President’s Men and Magnum Force star dies at 95

Actor Hal Holbrook has died at the age of 95 – his career on stage, TV and film lasted for more than six decades.

Hal Holbrook has died at the age of 95.

The actor starred in a string of huge movies, including All The President’s Men, Magnum Force and Into The Wild.

His career spanned more than six decades and saw him nominated for an Oscar and a Tony Award, and pick up five Emmys.

He died on January 23 at his home in Beverly Hills, California.

His death was confirmed by his assistant, Joyce Cohen on Monday night.

Hal will also be remembered for his portrayal of 16th US President Abraham Lincoln in 1974 mini series Lincoln, which earned him one of his Emmy Awards.

Most recently, Hal had appeared in TV series Hawaii Five-0, Grey’s Anatomy and Bones in 2017.

Fans will also remember him in Sons of Anarchy the the 2012 movie Lincoln, in which he played Preston Blair.

Hal also had a successful career on stage, most notably playing Mark Twain in a one-man show, which had originally been part of an honours project at university.

Hal was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1925.

He and his two sisters were abandoned by their parents when he was just two years old, and they were raised by their paternal grandparents..
