Prince Harry and Meghan Build ‘Faux Household’ to Shield from Media Scrutiny

Though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from their senior royal duties in 2020, the couple has recently restructured their personal and professional operations in a way that mirrors the traditional hierarchy of the British Royal Family.

This reorganization comes in anticipation of a new commercial venture from the Duke of Sussex, expected to launch in the coming months. The move appears to be as much about image protection as it is about business strategy.

Charlotte Griffiths, Editor-at-Large of the Mail on Sunday, who first reported the restructuring, discussed the development in an interview with GB News. She described the new structure as a protective barrier designed to shield the couple, particularly Prince Harry, from critical media coverage.

“So apparently Harry has looked at the latest polls that put him down at 27 percent, and he’s upset by it,” Griffiths revealed. “A source really close to him told me that he’s realised there’s nowhere to go but up.”

According to Griffiths, a key component of this newly formed “faux household” is media insulation. Under the new setup, Prince Harry is reportedly protected from reading the British press altogether.

“With this new structure, they actually protect him from reading the British tabloids,” Griffiths explained. “They basically read them on his behalf.” As for Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex is said to have entirely disengaged from British media.

“Meghan does not at all read the British tabloids; she does not engage in British media whatsoever,” Griffiths added. “And she’s shielded from that by this household. The point of the new household is this kind of shield around them that protects them.”

The restructured team and approach reflect a clear strategy: to tightly manage the couple’s exposure to public criticism while allowing them to focus on professional endeavors.

Since stepping back from royal life, the Duke and Duchess have launched several projects under the Archewell brand, including podcasts, documentaries, and philanthropic work. However, their relationship with the media, particularly the British press, has remained tense.

By adopting a more hierarchical and protective team model, Harry and Meghan appear to be reinforcing boundaries between themselves and negative publicity, drawing inspiration from the very institution they once left behind.

As the couple prepares to reenter the spotlight with upcoming ventures, this revamped “household” may serve not only as a buffer but also as a calculated means of shaping their public narrative on their own terms.
