The Real Reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Moved From Los Angeles Revealed

It’s long been known that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal roles in a bid to live a more private life. This bold decision also saw them up sticks from London and move firstly to Canada, then to LA, and now, they’ve brought their first home together in Santa Barbara.

More specifically, in a community out there called Montecito (which during a 2010 consensus had a much smaller population of 8,965). But there was a pretty big reason why the couple didn’t want to continue living in the City of Angels – namely that Harry simply didn’t get on with it.

According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, Montecito has always been a favourite of Meghan’s too, so it made sense that they’d switch to settling there when the right house came along.

“Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture. Moving there was always an option, but to begin with, she and Harry wanted to give Los Angeles a shot.”

The source continued on to say, “Unfortunately, Harry absolutely hated it – the timing was so wrong amid the [coronavirus] pandemic and they lacked privacy.”

With all that said and done though, Montecito is still relatively close to LA, meaning that when the couple need to be in the busy city for work, they’ll only need to travel an hour or so to get there.

“An added bonus is that Montecito is only just over an hour’s drive from L.A., which is where a majority of their work is based, yet [it’s] far enough away to escape the crowds, paparazzi, and tourism in Hollywood.”

During a recent video interview, Meghan offered up the first look inside their new property and we have to say, it looks pretty fancy (as you might expect for a Duke and Duchess). It’s reported by HELLO! that the new house has a total of nine bathrooms, sixteen bedrooms and a separate outdoor guest house.

As for the main building, it’s believed to house an office and library (maybe Harry will be taking charge of decorating that room, given that he’s recently branched out into journalism?), as well as a spa, a gym, an arcade, a games room and a movie room, for some post-work relaxation. The garage can reportedly house five cars and there’s also an outdoor pool and tennis court.

Congratulations on the move, both!
